Youth Camp '08

I just want to share my experiences on the youth camp that I had recently attended. The youth camp this year is probably one of the best youth camps that I have ever attended. My role there was not actually a camper but a counselor with lots of responsibilities to handle with. It was not really a joke for you to handle an approximately more than 200 young delegates/campers. Age that ranges at 11-20 years old. Most of the campers were from our neighbors in the province and most of them were also a Compassion recipient. Sponsored children and youths. I, as an individual counselor, I believe I handled less than 20 campers and my role is of course, to take care of them. It wasn't really a time of enjoyment on our end but my heart was glad everytime I see them getting serious for God.

The camp lasts for 4 days and it was stressful on our part. But we're all still glad every time we see them participate on our activities. Such as outdoor activities, session hall activities, and so on and so forth. The camp was divided into 4 activities:

The 1st day is for group acquaintances, team and trust building, and some several topics are discussed. The most interesting topic that was discussed was all about the MEDIA, that there are evil forces that are working on media, but it doesn't mean that media was bad, it's just that, it was the enemy's number one tool to deceive us.

The 2nd day was the EGR proper, do you know what EGR means? Actually, it meant Encounter God Retreat. But since it was just a day in the camp, that day was only dedicated for the youth to really encounter our God by having lots of session hall activities. A lot of topics were discussed on this day.

The 3rd day was the day for the Tribute to the King, were all of the youth on every Church of God branches in Bicol performed on the stage, like pantomimes, son and dance numbers, etc. There are some departmentalized lectures for those who want to join a ministry, such as music ministry, technical ministry, pastoring ministry and sunday school ministry. That day was also dedicated for honoring our pastors.

And the last day was dedicated for recreation and a closing program such as the distribution of the certificate of participation which were given to all of the campers/delegates of the camp.

Indeed, it was a week of stress for all of us as camp staffers but it was also an unforgettable experience because we believe that we have brought big impacts on the lives of our campers. And best of all, we're all doing it for God's glory and not because of our own efforts that made this camp a success. To God be all the glory!

The prayer of the gimper named JABEZ (read 1 Chronicles 4:9-10)

Hey guys! Thanks you so much for reading this post that I have just recently posted. I would really appreciate if you'll leave some comments. Thanks. I know, for some of you, or most of the Christians are familiar with this man named Jabez. And He's a gimper. What do we mean by gimper anyway? A gimper according to Seume was someone who always does a little more than what's required or expected. Are we like that? Do we always do the extra mile in everything we do? Or just do things plain and simple. And then that's the end of it? Our mind is always preoccupied on reaching success. But in the life of this man named Jabez. He did something in life that is really extraordinary that made God answer his prayer. If we will try to look back in the history, names does have its own meaning. And in that time where names are meaningful which greatly reflects who you are. (as what they used to say) The name Jabez, means "pain." Now, what are you thinking of right now?...

The book called.. THE SECRET

I wonder why I have this book. In the first place, it wasn't mine. I only borrowed it from a friend of mine who is also interested on reading the book. Actually, the manner that I had when I borrowed the book isn't that really okay. But because of the kindness that my friend had shown to me, I took advantage of it. Haha! I really forced her to lend me the book even if she wasn't yet finished reading it. But what I'm wondering is that, why am I so excited to read this book even if I had no idea at all what the book is all about. Is it because of the title of book that gives me an impression that indeed it was really an interesting book to read at. The book was called THE SECRET. The first time I glanced the book, it was like a tickle of mystery that I felt. Then, right at the moment when the book was introduced to me, I just borrowed it. And this friend of mine agreed. The first time I read the book, I thought that there is nothing wrong with it, but soon as I dig deep i...

GLOBAL VILLAGE

What comes first into your mind when you hear something about GLOBAL VILLAGE? I know this may sound new to you for those who's unfamiliar. But let the Merriam-Webster dictionary define Global Village. Global Village - the world viewed as a community in which distance and isolation have been dramatically reduced by electronic media (as television and the Internet). And for other definition, Global Village means, it's the entire world and its inhabitants. Now, why do I come up with this kind of topic. What's the connection of this compound word in our lives as a Filipino individual? Read on to find out. Very interesting. We have just recently celebrated our church's 25th Anniversary. And coincidently, that was the theme of our church anniversary. It was quite very interesting because Global Village really is a technical term for this digital world. But if we will try to look it in another perspective, in a basic understanding, look at it literally. GLOBAL.. and then VILLA...
