What is a Father's Day for all of us? Is it just an occasion that we all celebrate during the 2nd Sunday of every month of June? Or is it really a day where we honor our dads from being a great dad on our homes. I know that some families doesn't have any father at all, but it doesn't mean that that is where it ends. Because we all have a Father that we can always look on to, and that is God. And He will always forever be our father.
But what kind of challenge it is being a father? Being an earthly father isn't an easy role to be. There are lots of responsibilities, sacrifices, he needs to have a a stable job, he should already learned how to lead the family, take care of them and so on and on.. and that is for only one reason, to sustain the family's daily needs. And being a father will most likely face different kinds of circumstances in life that you should always be responsible of. Might as well the same thing goes being a mother. But we will just focus on fathers on this post.
The story that I am about to feature is all about a father who adopted some children in China and all of them were girls. His life was really touching and the new song that he composed that is entitled "Cinderella." The song was featured on his MySpace profile. Imagine the kind of father he is and that is one thing that is very uncommon for most fathers. The man that I'm saying was none other than Steve Curtis Chapman.
Lately, it was reported that her youngest adopted child Maria, I believe, not pretty sure of what her name is, died on a car accident. It really broke my heart when I heard the news about it. And I saw the artists profile in MySpace and I saw bunch of comments about his youngest daughter's death. Now if you come to think of it, and you're a dad, that even if she's not your biological daughter, what will you feel? In my own case, I would really cry out to God and ask for a BIG help! But God knows everything well, for He is all knowing. It might be that God had already accomplished His plans for this little girl's life. And we all have this belief that if it's your time, it would really be your time already.
I got the whole story in our church when our pastor shared the story about what had happened. And I began to search the web about it. That's why I came up with this wonderful song that somehow made me cry. The song was also on Steve's MySpace profile, but I liked it the most when it's played by just having the tune of a guitar. Let me share these 2 videos which will tell us why he composed such a wonderful song. And it really made me cry.

And the lyrics goes this way:
She spins and she sways to whatever song plays,
Without a care in the world.
And I'm sittin' here wearin' the weight of the world on my shoulders.
It's been a long day and there's still work to do,
She's pulling at me saying "Dad I need you!
There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited and I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
Cuz all to soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says "Dad, the prom is just one week away,
And I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Ohh-oh ohh-oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
Cuz all to soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
She will be gone.
Well, she came home today
With a ring on her hand
Just glowin' and tellin' us all they had planned
She says "Dad, the wedding's still six months away
but I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy please!"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Ohh-oh ohh-oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
(even one song)
Cuz all to soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
The song made me realize that if I'll be a father soon, and for the soon to be fathers out there and for all of the fathers out there, let us make the most out of our daughters, sons and children, spend a moment with them, no matter how challenging it was, and the moment that you spend with them was really worth it. So, make the most out of your children. And you'll realize that someday, they're gone.
